In India, each and every festival is celebrated religiously and has its own significance. The celebration of a festival is always incomplete without family members and relatives as we all know that happiness always increases when it is shared with closed ones. There are many festivals like Holi, Diwali, Dussehra, and Eid but Raksha Bandhan is Unique as it expresses an inextricable bond between a sister and a brother.

Raksha Bandhan falls on the Purnima (or full moon day) in the month of Shravan. This Festival is also known as Rakhi Poornima, Kajari Poornima, and Nariyal Poornima in different states of India but one thing is similar that it depicts the love and respect between the sister-brother relationship. Irrespective of any caste, creed or religion, people from all walks of life solemnize this occasion with faith and dignity.

Raksha Bandhan

Relationship of a brother with his sister or of a sister with her brother is beyond imagination. In spite of many fights or silly arguments, they are always there to support them and stand for each other in times of need and as the name symbolizes Raksha Bandhan, “The Bond of Protection”. Sister applies tikka on her brother’s forehead and ties a sacred red thread called Rakhi on his wrist and pray for his long life and good health and in return brother vows to take good care of his sister.

The significance of this festival increases after the wedding. After the wedding, everyone impatiently awaits for every occasion to spend some together in fond of making some memorable memories to keep in their heart forever. In Hindu religion, the time period of one year after marriage is a grand celebration period. Parents, relatives, siblings, everyone longs for an occasion to catch up with their families. The celebration of festivals, many functions and different occasions altogether filled with fun and happiness is what everyone looks for. One such festival which gives some lovely moments is Raksha Bandhan. After the wedding, one can admire a lovely transformation in the relationship of a brother and a sister. Those siblings who were always inclined to fight for a television remote can now be seen as doing heart warming communication with each other. This is the strength of this beautiful and inseparable bond which siblings manifest together.

You would be waiting for this day for so long to have a word with your brother. The whole atmosphere of celebration changed after the wedding like before only your brother used to play pranks with you and pull your legs, now your lovely husband who is so much in love with you accompany his brother in law to tease you completely till the time you would give an angry look at him.
