Indian wedding is a pompous affair of 4-5 days solemnizing different traditions of Sagan (roka), sangeet, Sagai, Gath Bandhan, Saptapadi including Band, Baja, and baraat where every ritual has its own significance. But, in the era of doing everything little Hatke;  people do various experiments from stage performance of relatives and close family members, pre-wedding photoshoots to customized wedding themes to set a trend for others but the natural way of Baarat where Dulha comes on white ghodi doesn’t change. But Just some days back, a bride in Patna did something unusual. Yes Unusual, where wedding guests, relatives, friends, even thousands of bystanders left astonished and queued up on the roads to watch a bride lead her Baraat from her house to the Danapur Army Marriage Hall, where her groom was waiting for her.
 
Yes, it’s true! the groom waited for the bride to proceed the wedding rituals. In this unusual and out of the box idea, where the bride took on the role of her groom and took out her “baraat”, both the families gave the message of “empower women”.
 
Firstly, Both the groom and his respective family got surprised by the idea of their would be daughter in law or bride Snehlata, who is working as an assistant manager with a private bank in Mumbai thought of this unique gesture and the bridegroom Captain Anil Kumar Yadav, who works in Indian Navy happily agreed to her proposal.
 
Snehalata told News 18 “Both of us are based out of Bihar and we love our motherland, which is grappling with a number of social evils, including dowry. We are against these practices and have decided to send out a message.”
 
She also accepted the fact that initially her own family members were against her decision and taking it as a joke, but somehow she managed to win them over.
 
“I told them about the number of initiatives our Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken up to eradicate these evils and his reference worked. Then we told my fiancé that I will come with the baraat and not him. Initially he thought it was a joke, but finally, everyone accepted it,” Snehlata narrates.
 
 
Snehalata and Anil studied together and fell in love. They both belong to a different caste and in Bihar or almost in India performing a wedding in different caste treated as a sin. However, a Dulhan leading a band, Baja, Barrat looked negotiable, but everyone agreed”.
 
 
Locals also participated in the marriage and some of them even joined in uninvited. One among them, Birju Singh, said, “This is an unbelievable scene. The world is changing and this is an example. I can’t say I too would think about it in my family, but I have no complaints about this couple.”
 
This Kind of act by an Indian bride is commendable. And this unusual ritual is what we Indian needs to make our India, An Incredible India!!
