• Sammandhi Maryathai

This is the post-wedding ritual where both the families gives each other gifts, clothes, jewellery as a token of love and appreciation. The gifts may vary with respect to financial status of one’s family. After which she bids an emotional goodbye to her family and relatives taking holy blessings of family Diety.

• Paaladanam

Paaladanam is a ritual where the bride and the groom lay their face down to seek blessings of elders for beginning a happy married life.

• Grihapravesham

It is similar to the ritual of Grihapravesh observed in north indian weddings. The bride and the groom reach the house of groom where they are welcomed by groom’s mother following by a small aarti at the entrance.

• Valeyadal

After the bride is welcomed to the groom’s house, she is gifted with meaningful presents from her sister-in-law. The groom and the bride play various fun filled games which acts a ice breaker between them.

• Maruvidu Varudal

This refers to the ritual where the newly married couple visits the bride’s parental home for first time after three days of wedding. This ritual marks the end of all the ritual of tamil wedding.
