Freedom, what everyone loves, whether it’s a human being or an animal, every individual wants to feel free in their comfort zone. Marriage is something in India which comes with so many rituals and traditions. Marriage is not all about an affair of fun and happiness of 6,7 days. It comes with so many responsibilities for both the newly married couple.They both took the pledge to take the responsibilities of each other and their respective families.

India is a country where people are so traditional and conservative in nature. Though they believe that their daughter in law is an incarnation of Goddess Laxmi ( Bahu Ghar Ki Lakshmi Hoti Hai) but still she is bound with so many customs and rituals. She has to face restrictions for almost everything she does like don’t do this, do that and even criticized for small decisions. In our society, the male child has given so many preferences over the female child.Though society is changing rapidly, the status of Bahus still needs to be upgraded. We have achieved success in terms of equality when it comes to sons and daughters but the status of daughters-in-law still remains neglected.

As the 15th August is approaching which is celebrated as a day of freedom. Everyone should take a pledge to treat their daughters-in- law as their own daughter providing her the equal status of your family member. Let her feel free to live. The newly wed bride comes in her new home with lots of dreams but for the sake of culture and respect, she has to sacrifice a lot. The husband who is now her better half should support his wife as she is the new member of his family. He should stand up for her whenever required and let her feel confident for the person she is.

Freedom of expression is a right of each and every individual of India. Treat your daughter in law equals. Support her and encourage her to take the decision of her own life with respect. As a balanced relationship are always based on freedom factor, not on an obligation. Don’t control your wife. trust her, respect her and give freedom to take decision for herself because every relationship needs six things friendship, loyalty, Trust, respect, understanding and the most important one is Freedom.

15th August is the national holiday in India. Roads are empty and clean. Surprise her by taking out for a date. Give her rest for a day from the household chores. You can book movie tickets for both of you. If due to any reason, you cannot take her out, spend some quality time with her by flying kites, helping her in dinner as love lies in smallest things you do for her. Spread and share the love in between you and enjoy the day of freedom with your better half.
