Shifting into a new home after marriage is a dream of every couple but organising the new house is undeniably a difficult task which gives stress and panic attack to a newlywed bride. To a daughter who never paid attention to look after anything at her parent’s home, have a great responsibility on her shoulders to assemble everything beautifully in her dream house. Though the whole process becomes uncomplicated if you have the guidance of your loving mother-in-law but it’s quite challenging when you have to organise everything on your own without any help.

We all know an organised home not only catches everyone’s attention due to its pristine appearance but also makes your life simpler. • Let’s start. Remember to be realistic. Don’t force yourself to tackle the whole house in a day, or you will end up feeling frustrated and stressed. Begin with a section of the room to make your work simple, interesting and achievable.

• Before you commence your task, gather all the cleaning essentials beforehand so that you have to search the essentials like towels, soaps, bleach, toothbrush, gloves and other things required to clean the section. Start your cleaning process from the ceiling.

• As it is your new home, there should be no space for cluttering the things you don’t need. Buy the things which are required. Don’t buy anything and everything only because you liked them.

• Even if you are working or not, place your vehicle’s key, house keys, mobile phone, purse/wallets and briefcase at a designated place every day to save your precious time from searching them.

• Allocate a specific area to keep your clothes ready for the next day. Ask your partner to do the same as it will give both of you ample time to spend together in the morning.

• Discuss and decide a night before what you have to cook for the breakfast. Chop all the veggies, bring out the cereal box or soak channas etc as per your menu.

• The well-organised home looks alluring. Prepare a to-do list for the next day. Prioritize the tasks in a specific order according to their importance. Make it a daily habit.

• Check the Gas task before you go to sleep. Fill it if the gas tank is empty or if you don’t have time. Plan accordingly for the next day to bid adieu to stress hormones.

• Discipline is a key. Create a morning schedule and ask your partner to follow no matter he likes it or not. You too promise yourself to follow it like decide a specific time to wake up, bathroom times, breakfast time, etc.

• In order to organise your bathroom, place shampoos, conditioners, face wash, soap, body wash at one place. You will find many small shelves in a store. Buy them and keep all your usable items in it.

• Buy a small counter to keep all your lotions, face cream, sunscreens, perfume, beauty products, clips, rubber bands etc at one place so you don’t have to find them. Install a hook in the backside of your bathroom door to hang towels.

• To keep your bathroom window and door clean, purchase a water squeegee or cotton cloth. Make it a rule to clean them after you take shower. Hang it in your bathroom so that you find it convenient to use every time.

• Place your nail clippers, scissors, medicines, syrups in another counter. Check their expiry date before you put them in a drawer/counter.

• Cleaning of wardrobe is a must. Categorise all your clothes in casual, formals, and party wear. Allocate different sections to different wears. Make sure you have a separate section for seasonal clothes and out of season wearables.

• Things that are not used more often and clothes which you wear once in six months or a year, find a place to keep them in your bed after packing them in a poly bag.

• Use hangers to dangle your jackets, scarfs, ties, and belts. It would be a nice idea if you have hooks in your closet to hang caps/hats and handbags.

• It is obvious that you will have many pairs of shoes, flotter, flipflops, sandals, heels in your shoe rack. Declutter footwear which is of no use. There will be certain footwear which you will use once in a while, place them in a separate column.

• Kitchen is the most used corner in the house. Therefore, cleaning and organising the kitchen space must be a priority for all the females. Classify your cabinets, drawers into several categories such as plates, glasses, bowls, spoons, knives, glass items, steel items and plastic usable.

• Keep the like things in separate section likes spices in one, pulses in another and likewise. Have a distinctive section for containers to maximise your kitchen space. Allocate an area of the kitchen to keep all the poly bags and dishwashers.

• Always have a countertop space for the items you need on daily basis.

• Make it a habit to clean out your refrigerator every time you buy veggies, fruits as it will save you a lot of time later since you don’t have to devote a specific time for cleaning your fridge.

• Every house has a bad habit of misplacing bills, and receipts. So, to avoid your inconvenience, it will be a good idea if you play safe from the start. Have a drawer to keep all your electricity, phone, water bills, purchasing receipts of electronics or any item, service slip of AC, microwaves etc.
