Wearing anklets depicts the marital status of the Indian women so it is mandatory for women to wear anklets after marriage.

It is said that wearing anklets brings positivity in the house warding off all the negative energies. Traditionally, Newlywed bride steps into her new house with the Jingling music of anklets and brings prosperity and good omen in her in-law’s house. Sometimes groom gives Payal (anklets) to his newlywed bride. In Hindu religion, silver metal anklets are preferred over gold anklets by married women as gold is acknowledged as sacred metal which is gifted to God. Therefore, it is seen as the sign of disrespect if one adorns it at the lower part of the body.
